What the app does
ExplainThisDoc helps you scan, import, read and organize documents in a private archive. You can keep documents without analysis, or request an AI-generated explanation of letters, invoices, contracts, notices, travel documents and medical reports.
What an analysis can include
Depending on the document and analysis mode, results can include a plain-language summary, key facts, explanations of terms and context, amounts, dates, deadlines, tasks, risks and possible next steps. Local analysis uses the available on-device AI model on supported devices. Pro sends extracted document text to the selected external AI provider for a more detailed explanation.
Why medical information affects the rating
Medical reports can contain diagnoses, test results, medication and treatment information. Explanations can discuss those details and their meaning.
The topics covered depend on the documents you import and may include personal or health-related information. When considering documents and explanations for children or teenagers, take their age and understanding into account.
Guidance for teenagers and families
Teenagers should review sensitive documents and important decisions with a parent, guardian or qualified professional. Understanding health information, financial obligations and legal consequences requires care and context.
OCR and AI can misread, omit or incorrectly explain information. Check important details against the original. The app supports understanding; it does not replace medical, legal, tax or financial advice. Do not change medication or treatment based on an explanation from the app.
App lock and parental controls
The optional app lock uses device authentication, such as Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode, to limit access to the app interface. Someone who can authenticate on that device may also unlock the app, including a child.
The app lock does not verify age, identify a parent or guardian, or filter document contents and analysis results. ExplainThisDoc has no dedicated in-app parental controls or age verification. Device-level parental controls are managed separately in your device settings.
Age rating and privacy
An App Store content rating is separate from privacy and consent requirements. Where applicable law requires authorization from a parent or guardian, an age rating does not replace it. See our Privacy Policy for information about children and personal data.
